Ive used the golf app on the iPhone since it came out and its been my go to app for years, however the past year or two seems like a huge money grab.
First, they release a new app that I had to pay again for (see the "lifetime" claim that really isnt).
Second, a bunch of tips, scheduling, and other pretty much useless crap that you can do for free elsewhere is added and they now sell it as plus or pro features. Again, all for a yearly price. If you have been golfing for more than since yesterday, the content is rehashed internet garbage.
Dont believe the watch support pics, you have to pay $14.99 per year to get more than green center which I pretty much useless unless you are on a par 3, no hazards straight shot.
If you have an Apple Watch the workflow of the golf app relies on a "raise to wrist" feature that isnt available on the latest update or watch (no help from Apple Store either). Since it doesnt exist here is how a hole works: (assume PIN not set otherwise its much worse)
• raise wrist, see watch, hit crown to apps, select golf app
• wait a few seconds for app to sync to round on phone to get distances
• drop wrist, take shot
• walk to ball
• raise wrist, repeat from step 1 above. Sometimes you can double tap crown to get back to the golf app but its the same process either way.
Bottom line: This is horrible without the default raise to wrist feature that nobody can find.
The worst part is I cant export all of my scorecards and will have to start over.
Currently testing the Garmin S20.
